When I played the tune Far Wes from guitarist Tim Fitzgerald's new CD Full House, I knew the CD is a keeper. It was not necessary to preview the rest of the CD.

A Chicago-based artist, Mr. Fitzgerald is an expert in the music of Wes Montgomery. With his band Full House he plays new arrangements of songs written by Mr. Montgomery, and also features the famed chord and octave solos of the legendary guitarist.

To open the New For You hour you'll hear Far Wes, a simple melody with a throwback arrangement that you may have trouble getting out of your head. The song was the title track of a vinyl album originally released in 1958 as Montgomeryland. The new arrangement feature's Mr. Fitzgerald's horn section, and this adds to the hook of an already catchy song.

It's always a thrill to discover a new artist creating wonderful sounds.

That's my first reaction upon hearing a good bebop alto saxophonist. Which is getting harder to do these days. One artist who has kept the bebop tradition alive is Rhode Island's own Greg Abate . The Sunday Jazz Brunch Presents Musician's Corner: Aimée Allen and Love's Crescendo Air Date: 5/28/2023 on 90.5 WICN 8am-12pm ET LISTEN TO THE SEGMENT HERE One song. Two arrangements.  On the next Musician's Corner you'll hear a beautiful, meditative song called Love's Crescendo , with melody written by Turkish jazz artist Fahir Atakoğlu, and lyrics written and sung by vocalist Aimée Allen. It is a delicious collaboration.   During this segment, Ms. Allen talks about how Mr. Atakoğlu played the song for her on piano while singing wordless melody. Stunned by its beauty, she agreed to write words that express the profound feeling the melody induces. The subject could only be one thing: love.  Her words are not about romantic love specifically - rather, it is universal love that she wishes to convey to us, the listeners.
